Our selected henna leaves are collected right from the farmers. Then the leaves are cleaned of twigs and dust and then crushed and pulverized into powder. After sieving, it is packed in consumer packing of varying sizes. I get much good feedback on the color I've been doing for the past year and a half. This is the stuff. I'm happy with the way it makes my sprinkling of greys disappear. The reason I wind up touching up my hair is when I have too much new growth. It does fade a little. Especially now that I've been trying to swim regularly, but the color always looks healthy and not that faded tired look that the box dyes can get on reds.

There's good advice on the instruction sheet. Here's how I achieve my shade.

While the kit comes with those thin sheet plastic protective gloves, when I can, I'll use regular disposable gloves. The kit also comes with a bit of plastic to put over your head. There's inexpensive disposable plastic shower caps that hold the head more effectively. I then make like a paranoid and give myself a good ol' aluminum foil hat to trap heat and help the hair color bake in. The foil should not come in contact with the henna. Just layer your baked potato attire over top of the plastic. If you can, shoot a little heat from your hair dryer from time to time between the foil layer and the plastic layer.

Leave it on anywhere from 1-3 hours. I don't think I usually take it much past an hour. Read more ›

Henna Tattoos or Mehendi Art

Henna or mehendi is an ancient Indian tradition of adorning the body with intricate patterns. Mehendi leaves are plucked from a particular bush that grows quite aggressively in most parts of India and which is used as a hedging plant because of its thorns.
