Not only were they nice enough to stay open a few minutes late for me (I called ahead because I get off work at the same time they normally close), but they were extremely helpful. These guys really know their stuff! They gave me tons of good advice. Also, they didn't try to sell me stuff I couldn't afford; they listened when I told them my budget and recommended an appropriate product for my needs.

I've been able to find things here for my garden that I haven't been able to find anywhere else in town.

First thought that went through my head when I walked in was of a hilarious scene from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels:

[In British accent] "We grow copious amounts of ganja, yah? And you're carrying a wasted girl and a bag of fertilizer. You don't look like your average horti-farking-culturalist! That's what I mean, Willie."

Movie quote aside, this is definitely the place to go for any gardening and composting activities; and it's particularly chockfull of anything you may need for very specific gardening needs.

1 ] First big plus, it's dog friendly: You can spare your four-legged best friend from this 100 degree heat. And mine was greeted with a very warm welcome and a pat.

2 ] Hard to find stuff: They carry items that can sometimes only be found online. Have you been looking for bat guano? Well, not only do they have it, but they have the Mexican, Jamaican and Peruvian varieties. Need earthworms for vermicomposting - you can find them here.

3 ] Knowledgeable and friendly staff: Everyone was friendly but a special thanks goes to Dave for going out of his way to provide me with recommendations and provide explanations behind how the products work and what the benefits are. And he does all this without ever shoving the product down your throat. It's almost like, "hey, look, this is great stuff, here's why. It did this for x or y".

As a newbie to gardening and composting I felt like a fat kid in a candy store. I highly recommend this place to anyone from the most seasoned of gardeners to those wet behind the ears.
