I just bought and set up fifteen of these candles. I spent weeks researching window candles trying to determine what's best for me. In the end, I concluded that three characteristics were the most important:

1. Brightness

2. Cost

3. Heat of the bulbs

These candles are plenty bright. They're clearly visible in my windows from the street, and my house sits back a good way from the curb. If you're worried about brighness, stop worrying now. These are great.

The cost, is, of course, very reasonable. At $6 a pop, these candles are well worth the money.

The bulbs don't get hot. They really don't even get very warm. This is very important to me because I have cats and young children and I worry that they may knock a candle off the window onto the carpet. If they do, at least there won't be a fire.

For some reason, all of my candles seem to have 8 hour timers instead of 6. I have no idea why. They pop on around 4:00 p. m. and remain on until midnight.

Why not five stars? While these candles do have genuine metal bases, they are very very light and tip over very very easily. The very bottom of the base is also paper (I expected felt) -- and it's glued on to the sides of the base. You can very easily punch right through this paper with a finger. My solution? I bought some velcro strips here on Amazon, stuck a dime-sized piece on each windowsill, stuck a dime sized piece on the bottom-edge of each candle after tearing off the flimsy paper bottom, and presto -- they don't fall over. Took some time and about $5 worth of velcro.

I'm sure I could get much better candles if I was willing to spend $15 or $20 a pop. But these are worth the money and I'm glad I bought them.
